The Ghost of Halloween Past: 2010

Happy Halloween everybody! Being that I am still horribly late to the party on blogging, here are some Halloween looks from last year featuring my friend Tash with whom I always celebrate Halloween.

My friend and her boyfriend went as Leela and Fry from Futurama.

For some reason, we thought it would look "futuristic" if we took a picture of them with our car from the 80's........?

Myself and my sort of husband went as Evil Spock and, well, transvestite Spock. If you love good old original series Star Trek, you'll know about Evil Spock and his beard. We thought it would be fun to use our Phasers on our cat, Captain James T. Kirk.

My makeup was actually quite simple for this year. The worst part was covering up the eyebrows. I used this tutorial as my guide. I wore my regular foundation and used my "old faithful" neutral blush. I put on MAC lipstick in Red Full Stop and then wiped it off just to give my lips a bit of colour. For my eye makeup, I used the eyeshadows Glock, Holy Bible, and Albino from the Kat Von D Love and Fury palette and Razor Gray from the Kat Von D Metal Orchestra palette. I used my regular Maybelline Black Eyeliner and some Fright Night Spider lashes on my upper lashline. I glued on my vulcan ears with DUO Lash Adhesive.

As usual, we had lots of fun!

The Ghost of Halloween Past: 2009

HALLOWEEN IS COMING!!!!!!!  Guess what, Halloween is my favourite holiday!! I love to dress up and wear costumes. Since I have been frighteningly late to the party at posting anything lately, I figured that I might as well post some fun Halloween pictures from a couple years ago since I am planning to do some makeup pictures when I go out this weekend for All Hallows but it will probably be Christmas before I end up posting them.

Here are some Halloween pictures from 2009! I will unfortunately be wearing this costume again because my work schedule did not allow me the time to make a new costume for this year. I won't talk much about the makeup in this post; I am planning to do a makeup post for this costume with the makeup I do this year. Anyway, I try to party with my friend Tash (who you see pop up on this blog from time to time and who makes me awesome stuff) every Halloween since we both love making costumes and going out and being hot messes. We did a group theme for 2009: BATMAN VILLAINS!!!!

POISON IVY

I went as Poison Ivy, my favourite Batman character. I used to work in a plant sciences lab so it was kind of funny that way. I made a lot of parts of my costume, but since I am wearing it again this year, I will go further into those things in a later post.

TWO FACE

My life partner went as Two-Face. He painted one side of a black suit and tie white and wore a half black and half white wig. I did his makeup using a Kryolan Aquacolour palette with basic colours. I should have put more powder so it didn't wear off as easily but this was my first time doing makeup like this. Poison Ivy and Two-Face are together but Poison Ivy is also sometimes in love with Batman. This year, he shall be going as Batman.

Guess what? My friend SEWED THIS COSTUME HERSELF out of PVC!!! She even made covers for her boots (you can see them in pics further down). Do you know how hard it is to sew PVC? REALLY FREAKIN' HARD!! This costume came out AMAZING.

What is everyone out there being for Halloween this year? What was your favourite costume that you've ever worn?

Mindless Self Indulgence

Anyone else out there like the band Mindless Self Indulgence? I sure do, I've seen them live in Toronto and in my home city and they were fabulous. With lyrics like "I like my coffee black just like my metal" and "Turn down the bass, and fill my prescription!" how can I not love them? Awhile ago, I did a neon-ish look based on an MSI band t-shirt I have. I also needed an excuse to use Candy Barf Barf and this was the perfect wacky look to pair it with!

BROWS: Annabelle Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brown or something. It's brown. It doesn't match my hair. I use it when I run out of MAC Stud because it is lying around in my makeup drawer. I hate it.

LIPS: MAC's fabulously day-glo lipstick with the worst name ever, Candy Yum Yum *gag*.

A Rockabilly/Goth/Pinup Fusion Look Featuring Spellbound By Jynx Cosmetics

Holy crap, I am so behind on blogging lately! I'm not just late to the party, I've pretty much MISSED the party. I'm hoping to catch up soon as I may be having some job changes coming up that will work out a lot better for my lifestyle!

Anyway, a couple of months ago (I said I was behind) I put together a little bit of a goth/pinup fusion type of look for going out to the new wave club. That is one of the things I love about goth fashion; you can combine goth style elements with other kinds of looks and pretty much do whatever the f**k you want! I found a pinup-ish dress with a touch of goth to it and paired it with some pvc heels, a pvc waist belt, my ribcage necklace, and a hair flower for a pinup touch. I think I was a little too toned down with this look; next time I crack this look out I'm going to wear some dreads and fishnets and boots or something. The goth to pinup ratio is a bit off here and I often don't wear my natural hair when going out. Also, this look could really have used some falsies. If I remember correctly, I got home late after a long commute from the middle of nowhere and didn't have quite enough time to do what I wanted with my appearance.

My makeup was inspired by my dress which has little pink cherries and black and white polka dots all over it. I tried to do something that combined all of these colours in a way that wasn't totally IN YOUR FACE.
