Metallic Rainbow

I love using my Sugarpill Chromalusts, it is never hard to come up with a fun colour combination when you're using such awesome pigments! My favourite part about these is that many of them have a metallic sheen to them. Here is a rainbow-inspired metallic look!

BROWS: MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud.

CHEEKS: A Hot Mess Cosmetics* blush in Miss Vicious.

LIPS: Morgana Cryptoria Lip Balm in Electron with Lise Watier Gloss Festive over top.

EYES: Base: UDPP, MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, and NYX JEP's in Milk and Black Bean.

Outer V: Sugarpill Junebug and Starling.
Lower Lashline: Sugarpill Royal Sugar mixed with Lise Watier Metamorfix.
Waterline: UD Perversion.

*NOTE: A Hot Mess Cosmetics is my own pretend makeup brand. I make stuff sometimes and pretend that I have a makeup company. I do not have a real makeup company, thankfully, as it would end up being a hot mess.

Sugarpill Swatches

Quite some time ago, I went on a bit of a Sugarpill shopping spree and got most of what I didn't already have from them. I thought I'd share some swatches with you, even though you've probably seen them 1,000,000,000,000 times before. Click here to see my original reviews and swatches of their Chromalusts and pressed eyeshadows .

Worksafe Monday: Maybelline Baby Lips Review and Swatches

Happy back to work Monday! I, for one, have a day off as I work Monday to Sunday every 3rd week and get the following Monday and Tuesday off. It was a hellish work weekend with more people wanting my help than one person can give help to and a person who came in and screamed so loud at me that several people passing by went to get managers as they thought she might assault me. Then there was the person that vomited into our garbage can two feet away from me (this may not sound like a big deal as I work with sick people all day but I'm scared to DEATH of hearing people vomit! ARGH!)

ANYWAY, I wanted to share a review of one of my new favourite worksafe products: Maybelline Baby Lips! I love these for work as they are low-maintenance, sheer, tinted lip products that also work very well as moisturizing balms.

THE GOOD: I love the packaging!!!! The obnoxious colours really appeal to me for some reason. There are four different colours and two clear balms and all of them are so sheer that anyone could pull off any of the colours for the most part. They are moisturizing and comfortable to wear. Being that the colour is so sheer, they are easy to touch up in the middle of a busy workday. The colours are subtle so they are appropriate for work.  I also love how nice they smell! I am somewhat picky with scented products, but I actually like the scents of the ones I have. The scents are also light and not overpowering. I also feel that they are reasonably priced (1 tube costs approximately $6 CAD but I got mine on sale for around $4 each).

THE BAD:  I personally like these a lot, but there are some things that people may not like about them. If you don't like scented or sheer lip products, then you won't like these. I have also heard other bloggers saying that they find these drying rather than moisturizing, but I didn't find that to be the case. Some people may not like the bright packaging either.

THE VERDICT: Are you a working lady? Go get some of these throw them in your purse/put them on your desk/ whatever! These can definitely add a little bit of work-appropriate lip colour to your day!

THE PACKAGING

From left to right: Peach Kiss (smells peachy), Pink Punch (smells fruity), Cherry Me (smells like cherries) and Grape Vine (smells like grapes).

I have done both full face and lip swatches of these. My photography blows so it's hard to tell the difference between any of them but in real life they do not look the same on at all.

CHERRY ME

PINK PUNCH

GRAPE VINE

PEACH KISS

$@#$&*@$ there is a brush hair stuck to my lip!!! :(

Does anybody else have any of these? What do you think of them? What do you use on your lips for low-maintenance colour at work?

DISCLAIMER: All products purchased by me, my reviews are always honest. See the Boring Crap Alert Page for more information regarding reviews. These products were purchased before my NO BUY.

Nailed it!

Hello! I am horribly behind on commenting on blogs again due to the tedious and time consuming task of house hunting. I will catch up soon, I swear! In the meantime, here are some nails. In some of these picture, the polish is already all crappy and chipped because I forgot to take pictures while my nails were still fresh. FAIL! Hope you see some colours that you like....

My friend got me this awesome spy-themed top and base coat set from Le Chat for my birthday. I've been using them to do my nails since I got them and I really like them both!

Bourjois So Laque! in Bleu Violet with China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Tarnished Gold over top.

Orly Ingenue. This colour looks super cool in the bottle but looks like old lady polish on. It has a pretty extreme colour shift, though.

Orly Androgynie with China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Platinum Pieces on the accent nail. I was sorely disappointed in Androgynie; look how sparkly in the bottle it looks compared to on the nails! LAME.

Nicole By Opi in Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam *gag*. Commence laughing at me because I bought more Kardashian polish. (I really really REALLY am not into the Kardashians, nor can I figure out why they are even famous but the colours in this collection were awesome.) TEAL NAILS RULE!

YUCK CHIPPED NAILS! Nicole By OPI Follow Me on Glitter. LOVE THIS COLOUR.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Stripe-Tease after I abused the hell out of my nails. Note to self: must remember to take pictures of freshly done nails.

NERD LACQUERS!!!
My awesome friend got me some of these for my birthday!!! SWEET!!

Cold and Calculating

Hyperspace Bypass, the coolest nail polish ever. A couple of patients at my work told me how ugly they thought it was, I personally quite enjoy it!

Nebula. One of my favourite words. Say it with me, "NEBULA."

One coat of OPI Russian Navy, one coat of China Glaze Tempest, and one coat of Essie Shine of the Times. OOOOH SHINE OF THE TIMES! I AM GOING TO PUT THAT SH*T ON EVERYTHING!

Nicole By OPI in "Baby" Blue with Nicole By OPI Black Texture Coat on accent nail. I wore this under a UV reactive topcoat to cyber goth around or something.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in I Love Lacy and Laced Up. They looked better a week before I took this picture........

In other news, I am quite irritated that GFC has been taken away from certain bloggers. I think this is B.S. This is how I followed people and I am angry that I can't see certain people in my dashboard anymore. Also, I ran out of picture storage space so I had to pay for more, WTF? I didn't know about this when I signed up for Blogger. It says you have to renew your account every year to store your pictures; I'll probably forget and all my shit will get deleted, BOO! Also, why the hell do you need to give your REAL NAME to sign up for Google+ ? I feel that this is B.S. as well. I understand why they're doing it but it sucks if you are trying to keep certain things private on the internet. ARGH!

500 Point Perk at Sephora: Tarte Intro to Amazonian Clay Try Me Kit

Hello! I thought I would actually do an "up with the times" post rather than my usual late to the party type of thing. I usually ignore the 500 Point Perk at Sephora because nothing had really caught my eye before but THIS ONE DID. I had seen it on quite a few blogs and when I picked up some stuff from Sephora I figured I'd better get this as well. I think it is one of their better 500 Point Perks, go and get it while you can!

You get an Intro to Amazonian Clay Try Me Kit with various things from Tarte:

-FULL SIZE Lipsurgence in Fiery (these alone are $32 CAD and $24 USD!)
-Mini Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess (you get a lot of product here, IMO)
-Mini ReCreate Primer (which claims to have "Wrinkle Rewind" technology and is silicone-free)
-Mini Tarte EmphasEYES inner rim eye pencil
-Mini Smooth Operator micronized clay finishing powder

THE STUFF

THE REVIEW

I am just going to give a quick roundup of my thoughts on each product here.

ReCreate Primer: I didn't try this one as it was silicone free. I am oily skinned so I need silicone in my primer. When I felt the consistency of the product, I feel it would be better for someone with DRY skin. I also don't believe in wrinkle-reversing technology. Basic skincare will keep your skin the best it can be and genetics will determine how predisposed to wrinkles you are is how I look at it.

EmphasEYES inner rim eye pencil: This is a VERY hard eyeliner, it works smoothly on your waterline but not so much on your lashlines. It is much lighter than UD Perversion for example, so it would work well if you want a softer black waterline. It wears quite well on my waterline.

Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess: I don't use bronzers to bronze myself; I will use them as a neutral blush or as a contour shade beneath a coloured blush. This is a nice golden colour, it does not really lean orange or pink to me. It is just neutral and it works well both as a neutral blush and a contour shade (see below).\

Smooth Operator micronized clay finishing powder: I used a HUGE fluffy powder brush to apply a light layer of this over my usual everyday makeup. It actually works quite well to keep my skin looking nice and matte after the oil in my skin starts to break through. I have yet to try it out at the gym, but I think it might be helpful there, too. This product is a WIN in my book.

Lipsurgence in Fiery: You know how most GWP's/Point Perks come with a lip product and it is always NEUTRAL so it will look nice on everyone? This kit comes with FIERY, which is an awesome, opaque red!!!! When I looked at it, I thought it might be like the Tarte for True Blood stuff that LOOKED really red but ended up being super sheer, but I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case here. The lip pencil twists up so you don't have to sharpen it. It applies very smoothly and has an awesome matte finish. It also is pleasantly mint scented and slightly flavoured which I like. If you don't like bright or red lip colours then this kit might not be for you.
