Das Boot: The Story of a Night Filled With Blood and Gore!

***WARNING: This post contains photos that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised!!!***

HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEN everybody! Usually I am a lot more excited about Halloween but this year there have been some issues with my work so I was not sure if I would need a costume or not, I didn't know if I would be able to go out. I am able to go out next weekend but I didn't make my costume this year so it's kind of sad as Halloween is usually my favourite holiday. Anyway, I had made this post a couple of years ago, but it is a bit graphic so I wasn't sure if I should post it. Then I figured that it's Halloween so what better time to post some blood and gore? (STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE IT!)

Anyway, a couple of years ago I went to see the band Hanzel Und Gretyl. The night turned out to be "interesting" to say the least.......

FACE: MAC Prep and Prime, MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC15, MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder in NC15.

BROWS: Annabelle eyebrow pencil (black) and Annabelle lip pencil in 205 Cherry.

CHEEKS: Evil Shades blush in Brazen.

LIPS: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Dragon Girl and Cruella.

EYES: Base: UDPP and MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, NYX JEP in Milk.
Shadows: Sugarpill Tako, Love +, and Bulletproof; My Pretty Zombie Epistaxis.
Eyeliner: Maybelline Black Liquid Eyeliner, UD Perversion.
Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies.
Lashes: Ardell Fright Night Vampire Lashes.

The false lashes are pretty neat, they make me look totally different!
THE OUTFIT

Synthetic Dreads: Made by me.
Goggles: I Kick Shins.
Collar: Random goth store.
Top: Lip Service.
Waist Cincher: Deadly Couture.
Skirt: Tripp NYC.
Stockings: Ebay.
Boots: Demonia

So anyway, the band has this song called Das Boot. They require someone from the crowd to give up their boot such that they might fill it with beverages and pour it upon people. These two guys looked behind me and saw my boots.....one was pulled off and thus my boot was offered.

To make a long story short, beverages were poured, and my boot was returned to me unharmed. However, I waited until the end of the show to don my boot again as it is rather time consuming to do up all the buckles. BAD IDEA. Some people had gotten a bit out of hand and thus there were some broken bottles on the floor. Guess who stepped on one with a stocking foot?

FAIL.

So anyway, I see that my foot is beginning to bleed quite badly, so I go to the ladies room to get some paper towel. I assess the cut; it is not bad, it just happens to be one that bleeds a lot. I know first aid so I was not particularly concerned. However, a lady who had possibly been enjoying a few beverages comes in the room and says, "I'M A MOM, I CAN HELP YOU!!!"  I told her I did not need help, but thank you anyway. She proceeds to rip open my stocking with her bare hands (!) and starts yelling for someone to bring the first aid kit.

My husband took this picture as I was trying not to laugh at the lady who ripped open my stocking. I had assured her several times that I could deal with this issue myself. Due to the beverages she had consumed previously, she WOULD NOT BE DETERRED. It was nice of her to help, at least.......I think......

The bartender brings in the first aid kit. The bartender says he will take over. His version of first aid was cleaning an open wound with a rubbing alcohol pad, putting paper towel over the cut, taping it with zebra duct tape, and bringing me a free drink. No word of a lie. (By the way, that is not proper first aid.)

BLOOD AND GOREEEEEEEE
I went home and washed my boot and dreads in the bath (they were full of beer) and went to the doctor the next day just to make sure the cut was fine, there were no issues thankfully. The funny thing about the night was that I had stuff to do the next day so I was taking it easy on the beverages, it was more the intoxication of others that was the issue.

A VULCAN BUTTERFLY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

I just wanted to remind everyone to be safe this Halloween whatever it is you're doing! Look both ways before you cross the street with your kids, keep your boots on if you go out, plan a safe ride home, and make sure you go out with friends who can watch out for you!

What are you doing for Halloween this year?

Cold Chemistry

Hello! Here is a look for a (goth) night out using the Sugarpill Cold Chemistry palette. I was going for a look similar to but more subtle than what is shown on the packaging: purple all over the lid and white in the middle of the lid. I should have applied the white shade first because applying it over the purple colour made the effect barely noticeable. A couple of weeks after I did this, I came across this look on Sparkling Luna's blog and I was like, "Now THAT'S what I was going for!!" She has some serious eyeshadow skills! I think if I tried this again I would use a white base and apply the white shade first, then blend the purple shadow around it.

New Sugarpill!! Cold Chemistry Palette and Electro Cutes!

Work has really been sucking the life out of me lately so to make myself feel better I ordered some Sugarpill! Yay for mature adult coping skills! HA! Anyway, I got the new Electro Cutes and the Cold Chemistry palette. I also ordered a couple of pairs of false eyelashes.

THE STUFF

THE EYELASHES

Top: Dewdrop Kisses. Bottom: Angel Baby

If you are looking for a pair of HUGE false lashes then pick up Dewdrop Kisses! They are HUGE....and also sparkly. The Angel Baby lashes are not huge but they are bright purple. Very cool!

COLD CHEMISTRY PACKAGING

The Cold Chemistry palette is HUGE. You definitely get lots of product in this thing. I also LOVE what they've done with the packaging, very nice! The colours in this palette make it a no-brainer for evening/goth looks.

THE SWATCHES

From left to right: Subterranean, Elemental Chaos, Diamond Eyes, and Soot & Stars.
Subterranean is a really neat colour, I didn't have anything like it in my collection. Elemental Chaos has a lot of blue and purple sparkle to it that you cannot see in the photo. Diamond Eyes has a bit of a pink sheen to it and Soot & Stars is RIDICULOUSLY sparkly. Unfortunately, you will probably get a fair bit of glitter fallout from Soot & Stars (I have worn it out and the sparkle doesn't all stay put.)

THE ELECTRO CUTES

These are PACKED with glitter! Neon glitter shadows = awesome in my books. Here are some swatches in various lighting conditions.

From left to right: Love Buzz, Supercharged, Hi-Viz, Sparkage, Hellatronic

Look at the little twinkles in the picture below! That is not photoshop, they are just that sparkly!

Some of the colours have a bit of a shift to them. (Note that the following descriptions are my perception of the colours. The descriptions on the website are different.) Love Buzz is neon pink with silver sparkles (it is supposed to have a colour shift but I can't see it). Supercharged is kind of a neon pastel orange with gold sparkles that have a slight colour shift. Hi-Viz is neon yellow with a gold/green/blue sparkling colour shift. Sparkage is neon green with a silver/blue sparkling colour shift. Hellatronic has a very noticeable colour shift. It is somewhat similar to Royal Sugar but more neon and with a very definite purple/pink/silver shift. I had a hard time picking up the colour shifts on camera but you can kind of see it in the blurry picture below. I have not worn any of these yet so I can't speak to the longevity of the glitter in them.

OBLIGATORY UV LIGHT PICTURE

I figured that all of these would be UV-reactive; not so. Only Love Buzz and Supercharged react under UV light.

SAFETY ALERT: In some areas of the world, neon pigments are said to be unsafe for the eye area so use at your own risk (Sugarpill lists a similar warning on their website).

Overall, I am very happy with these products. I do have one negative note: I have found it to be very difficult to access the Sugarpill website and order from it. It literally took me a two week period to place this order as the site was either down when I tried to access it or I would start adding items to my cart and then the site would no longer work. I don't know if they are getting too much traffic for their servers or something but it makes it very difficult to place an order. As a disclaimer, I am not sure if others have had this problem, perhaps something was wrong on my internet or something, I am not 100% sure. Anyway, once I did place my order, shipping was fast and everything was nicely packaged.

Has anyone else had any problems with the website? What do you think of Sugarpill's new offerings?

DISCLAIMER: I purchased these with my own money. I am not affiliated with this company in any way.

Stila Festival of Colour

Hello! It's time for random late to the party swatches! Stila released their Festival of Colour summer collection earlier this year. I got one of the Countless Colour pigments (Finale) and an After Glow lip colour (Vivid Violet) because I have a weird affinity for UV reactive things. I really loved the packaging for the pigments, they were so colourful! My swatches don't really do Finale any justice, the colours are a lot brighter than they appear in the photo (what else is new). You can mix the colours up in so many ways, it's quite fun to play with. Vivid Violet is pretty neat as well, it looks purple in normal light (looks a bit like MAC Violetta) and glows bright pink under UV! Fun!
