Space Shirt

How is everyone's summer going? I, for one, am having a great time dressing essentially like it is still fall as we have not had too many hot days here. I have been going out a fair bit and had company staying at my house recently so I've been busy and not on the computer as much. My gardening is going well although my vegetables are coming along slowly due to the lack of heat. Work is a freakin' trainwreck but that is nothing new.......I have some holidays coming up soon so I just need to HANG IN THERE as I could really use a break at the moment.
Anyway, today's outfit features another closet resurrection. I bought a space print shirt from Zara YEARS ago and I really liked the print but the fit was awkward and unflattering (good thing I bought it! *rolls eyes at myself*) It didn't ever get much wear but I couldn't get rid of it as I LOVE space print. I was always trying to wear it with pants but it just didn't look right; I have found that pairing it with a skirt and a cropped jacket or blazer disguises the fit issues. Since I have several black skirts and various blazers and cropped jackets, this shirt has now been worn in various combinations many times! For my makeup, I used some neon coral eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick for a "summer-y" touch.

Military Elements

How is everyone doing on this fine Monday? I am off today after a 7-day clusterf**k at work so I am doing great! I had a whole bunch of boring domestic tasks to do today but for some reason I slept in until almost noon! ARGH! WTF? I find that the older I get I can't sleep in anymore which is a good thing as I have sh*t to do so that was kind of weird!
It is June but the weather here has been cool enough to dress as though it is fall so I am happy (my garden seedlings are a bit crabby but they will hopefully recover!) Today I am posting one of my favourite outfits that I wear when it is in my best interests to look like a functional adult. I love military-themed style elements; my blazer has some milirary-style buttons and my jeans are camouflage print. I have also added some alternative yet subtle jewellery and these things allow me to enjoy my outfit even though I look pretty toned-down.

Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronzer, Catrice Yellow Submagreen quad, Estee Lauder Cyber Eyes shadow in Cyber Green, UD 24/7 Liners in Stash and Mildew, Tokyomilk Dark Get Lucky Lip Tint.

I often do this kind of look for work with taupe and olive green eyeshadows.

Jewellery: From an alternative craft fair
Blazer: Le Chateau
Jeans: Buffalo
Boots: Le Chateau

Now that I have slept in it is time to get down to business! I am going to cook up a nice bolognese sauce to freeze for when I have company next week. Maybe I will get in some cleaning as well!

What are you up to today?

Grey Plaid

There has been a grey, plaid, pleated mini skirt hiding in the depths of my closet for quite some time. I can't even remember when I got it. I DO remember why I got it; it seemed like a more grown-up version of the skirts I used to love as a teenager. I had quite a collection of immodest mini skirts in all different colours of plaid that I would wear with ripped tights and I still love plaid skirts to this day. The grey skirt is too short to wear to work and it didn't really go with anything I had at the time However, I still liked it so it has survived numerous closet cleanouts. During my latest closet re-organization, I saw the skirt and decided that I would either make an outfit out of it or it was GOING. I am quite happy with the comfortable fall casual look I came up with.....the skirt shall live on in my closet! Oh how I love to resurrect clothes that have been languishing unworn in my wardrobe!

The weather has been fairly cool after a false hot start to the spring here. Therefore I am continuing to dress like it is fall which suits me just fine. Are you ready for spring and summer cothing or are you stubbornly clinging to boots and jackets like I am?
